November 2009 Meeting

Our de

epest thanks to Ray and Carley O'Neill, who led VHS members on a merry tour of the Barnhisel House in Girard, Ohio, in November.  A hearth fire was crackled invitingly as members gathered inside the house for an insider's look at the restored building.  Gingerbread and coffee, stories and jokes, and great laughter topped off the evening.

For those of you who missed it, some images of our fun:

Ray O'Neill cut quite the figure as he welcomed members of the Vienna
Historical Society.

Carley and Ray recalled
the intensive work they undertook in restoring the Barnhisel House.

Carley appears to be fixing to cook up some victuals for the assembly, but the gingerbread and coffee came later.  On the table lay examples of the
Barnhisel family's dinnerware and silver.

On a cold November
evening, stoves seemed to take on even more interest.  The potbelly stove was the focus of another discussion as members toured each room of the house.

Visitors were greatly interested in the many historic photographs of Girard and its citizens.
