Vienna Historical Society Officers and Board of Directors Meeting – July 27, 2010 – 6:15 p.m.


In attendance:  Vicki Anzur, Pam Clower, Michelle Garman, Pam Klinger, Shirley Selbe,  Dallas Woodall.

Absent:  Ruth Miller and Donna Jean Schieffer.

Others present:  Phil Pegg.

By consensus approved Phil Peg to fill the office of Vice President that was vacated by Michelle Garman for the term of  one (1) year, expiring July, 2011.

By consensus appointed Shirley Wajda as Vienna Historical Society Historian.

Vienna Historical Society Meeting – July 27, 2010 – 7:00 p.m.

Agenda and discussions:

  1. By consensus elected Shirley Selbe to fill the vacant Board of Directors term ending December 31, 2010, left vacant by the unfortunate passing of Ruth Miller.
  2. Cemetery – Had approximately 9 people at the last two restoration and clean-up days.  Next one is scheduled for August 21, 2010 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.  The going is slow, but progress is being seen.  Phil Pegg advised the Vienna Township Trustees that the rod on the cemetery pump is broke.
  3. Lauren Worona spoke with the Association of Gravestone Studies (AGS).  Tia Mara Conde, Conservator, is still working on a date to come and give us an opinion on the condition of the cemetery and stones.
  4. Archive Project – Will be starting up again on September 7, 2010 on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. at the township hall.  Will be scanning and storing in acid-free boxes.  Will concentrate on sorting out Civil War items for the 150th year anniversary that begins in 2011.
  5. Working on speakers for meetings for 2010 and 2011.
  6. Still working on putting the Township Green on the Historical Register.
  7. Treasurer Report:
    • $150.00 – checking
    • $300.00 – cash
  8. Liability Insurance will be due soon.
  9. Merchants Day is Saturday, August 28, 2010.  Pam Klinger is working on stickers, and magnets to sell.  Basket raffle and possible township coverlet to sell.
  10. Membership Drive Ideas: 

·        Send letter to alumni of Mathews High School to encourage support of the society.

·        Go to April 30, 2011 Alumni Banquet of Vienna High School to encourage support of the society.

  1. Pam Klinger & Phil Pegg will work on fundraiser, Shirley Selbe will work on alumni, Vicki Anzur will work on Facebook and Pam Klinger will work on flyers to have for Viennastock on August 7, 2010.
